☐POST LASER INSTRUCTION SHEET: Laser Iridotomy (LPI) for Narrow Angles or Yag Capsulotomy
1. You may be sensitive to light from inflammation after the laser surgery: this is very common.
a. Use sunglasses (disposable ones are available at front desk).
b. Use Rx of steroid drop (ie, Lotemax, Alrex, Durezol, or Predforte) as prescribed. If sensitivity to light returns after laser procedure, it could be due to return of inflammation: restart steroid & call our office for appointment.
c. Use Cold Ice Packs over eye if significant discomfort or headache.
2.You may have a headache after the procedure from the drops, which is normal.
a. Take acetaminophen (Tylenol 325 mg every 4-6 hours depending on pain or 500 mg every 6 hours as needed); avoid aspirin or advil for first 4 hours b. Use Ice Packs as needed
3. For LPI: We will examine you after both eyes are completed to be sure the microscopic hole in the iris (iridotomy) is open. On future exams, remind your eye technician or any new eyeMD to check that the iris hole is still open. If it becomes narrow or closes, a touch up laser may be needed.
☐POST CHALAZION EXCISION INSTRUCTION
1. You may have bloody tears and eyelid swelling/discoloration after the surgery: this is very common.
a. Keep patch on until you get to the car or are driven home (to avoid getting tears on clothes).
b. Use Cold Ice Packs over eye to decrease swelling from anesthetic injections as much as possible day of surgery.
c. Start warm compresses and lid hygiene again next day: to keep meibomian glands open and meibomian gland oil flowing through gland properly. Continue with lid hygiene Step Ladder sheet as recommended.
2.You may have pain after the procedure: this is very common
a. Take acetaminophen (Tylenol 325 mg every 4-6 hours depending on pain or 500 mg every 6 hours as needed) b. Use Ice Packs as needed

☐POST INTRADUCTAL GLAND PROBING
1. You may have mild bloody tears and/or moderate eyelid swelling/discoloration after the surgery: this is common.
a. If patch is placed, you can leave it on till you get to the car or are driven home (to avoid getting tears on clothes).
b. Use Cold Ice Packs over eye to decrease swelling from anesthetic injections.
c. Start warm compresses and lid hygiene again next day: to keep glands open.
