Artificial Tear Recommendation

Many of my patients have tried hundreds of different artificial tears. The only drop that was shown to be superior in a study, not sponsored by the company, was RETAINE.
But I have many patients who really get more eye irritation with Retaine.

The key issue is to avoid Preservatives as these are a concern for long term damage to the delicate goblet cells on the surface of the eye.

A patient took the time to tell me about her favorite:

This is the lid cleanser you leave in for one minute and rinse, with tea tree oil, which I alternate with my Ocusoft cleanser. I really like the sterilize and sometimes you can tell it’s working with them temporary sting that makes you close your eye.
